Parking Attendant

Position Summary The Parking Attendant serves as the “first point of contact” for guests arriving at the Gomez Western Wear Arena. In this role, you are responsible for managing the safe and efficient flow of vehicle traffic, ensuring guests are directed to the correct lots, and providing a welcoming first impression. Whether you are managing the arrival of thousands for a sold-out concert or organizing trailer parking for a major rodeo, your coordination ensures the event starts smoothly for every attendee.
 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Traffic Coordination: Safely direct vehicles into designated parking areas (General, VIP, or Staff) using hand signals, flashlights, or flags.

  • Revenue Management: (If applicable) Process parking fees using mobile POS systems; ensure accurate cash handling and provide receipts to patrons.

  • Space Optimization: Monitor lot capacity and direct vehicles to fill spaces efficiently to maximize the available parking area.

  • Information Resource: Answer guest questions regarding entry gates, Will Call locations, and ADA accessibility while they are still in their vehicles.

  • Safety & Surveillance: Monitor the parking lots for any suspicious activity, safety hazards, or improperly parked vehicles, reporting incidents to the Security team via radio.

  • Post-Event Egress: Facilitate the safe and orderly exit of vehicles after the event concludes, prioritizing pedestrian safety and local traffic laws.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Previous experience in parking, security, or outdoor guest services is preferred but not required.

  • Communication: Clear, authoritative, yet friendly verbal communication skills; ability to use hand signals effectively.

  • Problem Solving: Ability to think quickly and adjust traffic patterns as lots reach capacity.

  • Integrity: High level of honesty when handling parking fees and interacting with guest property.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Schedule: Must be available for a flexible schedule, primarily 2–4 hours before and after events, including evenings and weekends.

  • Environment: Outdoor work is required. You will be exposed to various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold) and vehicle exhaust/noise.

  • Physical: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (4–6 hours) and move quickly to direct traffic; must be comfortable working in low-light conditions with reflective safety gear.
