Kitchen Staff

Position Summary The Kitchen Staff at Gomez Western Wear Arena is the engine behind our culinary operations, ensuring that every meal served is prepared with quality, safety, and speed in mind. In this role, you support the lead cooks and concession teams by handling essential food prep, maintaining a sanitized workspace, and coordinating the assembly of our signature arena menus. Whether preparing for a VIP banquet or a high-volume rodeo crowd, your contribution is vital to delivering an authentic “Rodeo City” dining experience.
 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation: Execute basic culinary tasks including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients for various menu items.

  • Station Assembly: Assist in the high-speed assembly of food orders during event “rushes,” ensuring consistent presentation and quality.

  • Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a spotless kitchen environment by cleaning workstations, equipment, and utensils throughout the shift; strictly follow all food safety and storage protocols.

  • Inventory Coordination: Monitor ingredient levels and assist in restocking prep stations from the walk-in coolers or dry storage to prevent service delays.

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate standard kitchen machinery such as slicers, mixers, and warmers under the direction of the Kitchen Manager.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification: Valid Food Handlers License required.

  • Experience: 1+ year of experience in a commercial kitchen or fast-casual environment preferred.

  • Teamwork: Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with cooks, runners, and servers in a high-pressure environment.

  • Efficiency: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple prep tasks simultaneously.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Schedule: Available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays according to the arena event calendar.

  • Environment: Fast-paced, high-heat kitchen environment with exposure to loud noise levels during peak event hours.

  • Physical: Ability to stand for the duration of a shift (6–8 hours), perform repetitive tasks, and lift up to 40 lbs (cases of produce/meat).
