Concession Cashier

Position Summary The Concession Cashier is the primary point of contact for guests seeking refreshments and is responsible for delivering fast, friendly, and accurate service. In this role, you represent the “front line” of our food and beverage team, managing transactions with precision while maintaining an upbeat “Texas-friendly” attitude. Whether you are serving a family at their first rodeo or a long-time season ticket holder, your goal is to ensure every transaction is handled efficiently so guests can get back to the action.
 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Transaction Management: Accurately input food and beverage orders into the arena’s Point of Sale (POS) system; process cash, credit, and mobile payments with high precision.

  • Guest Service: Greet every guest warmly, answer questions regarding menu ingredients or pricing, and offer suggestions or “upsell” items (e.g., combos or large sizes).

  • Financial Accountability: Maintain a balanced cash drawer; perform opening and closing procedures, including cash drops and reconciliation, with strict adherence to arena policies.

  • Station Readiness: Ensure the condiment stands, napkin dispensers, and counter areas are clean and fully stocked during and between event rushes.

  • Communication: Coordinate closely with the Kitchen Staff and Food Runners to ensure orders are fulfilled correctly and any “out of stock” items are communicated to guests immediately.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 1+ year of experience in a cashier, retail, or customer service role is preferred.

  • Math Skills: Excellent ability to handle currency, calculate change, and manage financial records accurately under pressure.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using touch-screen POS systems and credit card terminals.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal communication skills and the ability to remain professional during high-volume periods.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Schedule: Must be available for a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the event calendar.

  • Environment: Fast-paced, high-volume environment with significant guest interaction; noise levels can be high during performances.

  • Physical: Ability to remain standing for the duration of a shift (4–6 hours) and work in a confined concession stand space.
