Position Summary

The Box-Office Agent serves as the “first face” of the Gomez Western Wear Arena. In this role, you are responsible for providing exceptional customer service while managing ticket sales, Will Call distribution, and general event inquiries. Whether it’s a high-energy rodeo, a live concert, or a community festival, you will ensure every guest’s experience begins with professional and efficient service.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ticketing Operations: Process individual and group ticket sales using the arena’s designated ticketing software (e.g., Ticketmaster or internal systems) for walk-up customers.

  • Will Call Management: Verify identities and accurately distribute pre-purchased tickets to patrons at the East Box Office windows.

  • Financial Accuracy: Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with high precision; reconcile daily sales and maintain a balanced cash drawer.

  • Guest Relations: Answer questions regarding seating charts, event schedules, venue policies (e.g., bag policy, smoking rules), and parking information.

  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve ticketing discrepancies or seating issues with a calm, professional demeanor, escalating to the Box Office Manager when necessary.

  • Venue Promotion: Provide information on upcoming events such as the Mesquite Championship Rodeo, concerts, and special festivals.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality; previous box office or event venue experience is a major plus.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in basic computer operations and the ability to learn complex ticketing software quickly.

  • Math Skills: Strong ability to handle currency and perform basic calculations accurately under pressure.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills with a “Texas-friendly” attitude.

  • Reliability: Must have dependable transportation and a consistent attendance record.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Schedule: Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, aligned with the arena’s event calendar.
  • Environment: Fast-paced, high-volume environment during event “rush” periods. The noise level can range from moderate to loud during performances.
  • Physical: Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods (4–6 hours) and interact with patrons through a box-office window.
